CALSoft 6 stores any projects you create using the Process Calculation, CUT/Vent Establishment, or Deviation Evaluation sections in a database referred to as the "ProCAL Database". This database file is an Access Database named "ProCAL.mdb" and resides behind the scenes on your computer.

By default, the ProCAL database file is installed on your computer in this location...
C:\Users\[USER NAME]\Documents\CALSoft6\Data.
However, if during the installation process, you did not install CALSoft into the default location (you chose a different folder location on your computer to install CALSoft that was not the Default Location), this may have affected where your ProCAL.mdb file was installed. And that may cause an error stating that the ProCAL database is missing". For example, the error message may look like this..
If you get this message, it means that the ProCAL.mdb database file is installed in a different location than where CALSoft expects it to be. In the example above, CALSoft thinks the ProCAL.mdb file is located in the folder C:\Windows\Documents\Data. However, the ProCAL.mdb is not in that folder. Here is what you can do to fix that...
FIRST: Find the file “ProCAL.mdb” on your computer.
ProCAL.mdb is a database file that was installed when CALSoft 6 was installed. It is probably in one of the subfolders in the folder where you installed CALSoft. Use the "find file" feature in Windows to find where the ProCAL.mdb file is located. Once you find where that file is, make a note of the path where the file is located. You will need to know this path/folder in the next steps.
SECOND: Tell CALSoft where the correct location is for the ProCAL.mdb file
Next, you need to tell CALSoft the correct location of the ProCAL.mdb file, which is the path you made note of in the FIRST step above. To do this....
(1) Open CALSoft.
(2) Open the Preferences Menu by selecting the "GEAR" icon in the header of the CALSoft screen, then select "Preferences"....
(3) The Preferences window will appear. The location where CALSoft thinks your ProCAL.mdb file will be shown in the "ProCAL Database Location" section....
(4) Point to the location where the ProCAL.mdb file actually is (the path you noted in the FIRST step above). To do this, (1) click the "Custom" option, then (2) click the "folder icon" to find the location, then (3) Navigate to the correct path/folder where you found the ProCAL.mdb file. (4) Click SAVE to save the new location where the ProCAL.mdb file is located.....
THIRD: Check to see if you fixed the problem.
After this change is made, check if CALSoft now knows where the ProCAL.mdb file is loaded. To do this...
(1) Click the Process Calculation button to access the Process Calculation section...
(2) In the Process Calculation section, click NEW to open a new process calculation...
(3) This should set up a new Process Calculation project (ProCAL record) and display the Process Calculation screen (below).
Once you get this screen above, the problem is solved and CALSoft now points to the correct location where the ProCAL database is located.
If you still get an error, then the issue is that the user does not have permissions to the folder where CALSoft is installed.
