CALSoft allows you the option to "calibrate" your entire data-collection system of thermocouples, wires, and CALPlex datalogger (or wireless dataloggers) against the calibrated temperature source on the retort you are testing, in order to zero-out any possible differences. This is referred to as "calibration" within CALSoft. The calibration offsets within CALSoft are referred to as a calibration file (file ending in .CLB). First, you would CREATE the calibration file of offset factors, then you would APPLY those calibration offset factors to your data collection.
This article will explain how to APPLY the Calibration File.
Click here to access the article on how to CREATE the Calibration factors.
CALSoft allows you to APPLY the calibration offset factors to your data. This can be done before or after data collection.
OPTION 1:
BEFORE DATA COLLECTION:
This method would be used to apply the offsets BEFORE you begin a Heat Penetration or Temperature Distribution test using CALPlex/CALSoft.
- STEP 1: On the main Temperature Distribution or Heat Penetration screen before data collection begins, click the Calibration File button to apply offsets to your data collection. The Temperature Distribution screen is shown below, but the button is in the same location for Heat Penetration:
- STEP 2: The Calibration utility window will be displayed. To apply a calibration file to your data collection, click/select the Calibration File from the list, and then click APPLY FACTORS TO FILE.
- STEP 3: Click the SAVE button and the calibration offsets will be applied to your data. The Calibration File name applied to the file will be shown below the Calibration Button. (To remove the calibration factors, simply click the CALIBRATION BUTTION again, then REMOVE FACTORS FROM FILE.)
- STEP 4: During Data collection, you can see that the calibration files are applied in two areas.. on the Incoming Data table in the Calib. Factors Column...
... or by clicking the Calibration tab and seeing the current calibration factors displayed:
OPTION 2:
AFTER DATA COLLECTION:
This method would be used to apply the offsets AFTER you have already conducted a HP or TD test or manually created a HP or TD file.
- STEP 1: Open the Temperature Distribution or Heat Penetration file and click on the CALIBRATION button in the navigation bar at the top of the screen. The Temperature Distribution screen is shown below, but the button is in the same location for Heat Penetration:
- STEP 2: The Calibration utility window will be displayed. To apply a calibration file to your already collected data, click/select the Calibration File from the list, and then click APPLY FACTORS TO FILE. (To remove the calibration factors from the data file, simply click REMOVE FACTORS FROM FILE.)
- STEP 3: Click the SAVE button and the calibration offsets will be applied to your data. Once the calibration file is applied to HP or TD file, the temperature data for each channel is automatically adjusted by the calibration offset factor. You can see the calibration factors applied to data in a few different ways:
......Click the CALIBRATION button on the ribbon menu at the top of the screen.
... or on the the Time/Temperature report...
When a calibration file is applied to a HP or TD data file, the offset factors will be "embedded" in the HP or TD file.
