CALSoft 6 stores any projects you create using the Process Calculation, CUT/Vent Establishment, or Deviation Evaluation sections in a database referred to as the "ProCAL Database". This database file is an Access Database named "ProCAL.mdb" and resides behind the scenes on your computer.
By default, the ProCAL database is stored in your CALSoft6\data directory. The database location is listed in your Preferences (see ProCAL Directory for more information).
When you add a new record to the ProCAL database, CALSoft chooses the next available number in the database and assigns that as the Record Number for the project you are working on, and is the main reference # for that "project". The database starts with the number 10,000, so your first Record will be #10,000. (Note that the older CALSoft 5 version started with record #1).
There are three parts (tables) to the ProCAL database depending on the section of CALSoft you are working in:
![]() |
Process Calculation | These records are referred to as "ProCAL Records" (Learn more about ProCAL Records here) |
![]() |
Set CUT/Vent | These records are referred to as "TDCal Records" |
![]() |
Deviation Evaluation |
These records are referred to as "DEVCAL Records" |
Think of the DATABASE as a file cabinet where you store all your projects.
Think of the SECTIONS of CALSoft as the drawers in the File Cabinet
Think of the RECORDS as files in the file cabinet that store all the specific information on each project.
