If your computer suddenly loses connection with your CALPlex during Data Collection, the CALSoft software will display a message in Red saying "Please Check Data Logger".....
If your CALPlex is still connected to your computer via the USB cable, the problem may be with Windows turning off the power to your USB port.
Windows settings often are set to allow the computer to turn off the USB port to save power. When this happens, CALSoft tries to reach the USB port to scan the CALPlex.. but it has been “turned off” by Windows.. and CALSoft assumes the CALPlex is disconnected.
To fix this, you must check the Windows power settings on your computer. Here's what you need to do....
- Using the search in Windows, search for “Device Manager”
- When Device Manager window pops up.. Scroll down to and expand (+) “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”
- For each USB Root Hub Entries right click and select Properties
- Go to the Power Management Tab
- Then un-check the "Allow Computer to turn off this Device to save power" check box. (un-check this check box for all USB Root Hub Ports)
- Click OK
This will prevent your computer from turning off your USB ports, and will prevent CALSoft from thinking the CALPlex is not connected.
If this does not resolve your issue...
1. The issue may be the USB port on your computer. Try another computer.
2. The issue may be with the USB connection on your CALPlex. Send in your CALPlex for evaluation/repair. See our webpage for CALPlex calibration/repairs... https://tcal.com/support#calibration
