If your computer loses power and/or is turned off during a heat penetration or temperature distribution test, CALSoft will attempt to continue data collection once the computer is rebooted and the CALSoft software is restarted. This enables you to save the data that was collected prior to the power loss, and continue logging data after power is restored.
** Please note, however, that while CALSoft attempts to continue collecting data, in rare situations, the sudden loss in power on the computer may corrupt the CALSoft file being collected. In this case, once CALSoft is restarted, it may not detect that a test was in progress. In that case, unfortunately, the feature described below will not be triggered, and your corrupted file may not be recoverable. .
Here's how the feature works if your computer loses power...
- Do not disconnect the CALPlex from your computer.
- Turn the computer back on after power is reconnected.
- Once your computer is booted up again, open the CALSoft software.
- As CALSoft opens, it should notice that a test was in progress, and you will be given the option to either resume the test. The message "Data Collection File Present. Recover Data?" will be displayed. Click YES to recover the data.
NOTE that Clicking No will not recover any of the data from your test (the data file will not be available to you)
- If you click YES to resume the test, CALSoft will reference the scan-rate you set for the test, and compare the time on your computer to the time of the last scan before the power was lost.
- CALSoft will then let you know how many scans you missed, and give you the ability to either click YES to enter blank lines (00:00:00 scans) for the time that was missed (RECOMMENDED), or click NO to simply start scanning again from the time that was left off ....
This allows you to resume your test where you left off before the power was lost.
