CALSoft creates files for heat penetration data (with the extension .chp) and temperature distribution
data (with the extension .ctd). These files include dates and times to indicate when the test started and
when other events occurred. The date and time format used is the United States Based format of
Date: MM/DD/YYYY
Time: HH:MM:SS AM/PM.
If the Windows settings on your computer is set for a different format of date and time, you may get an
error when opening a CALSoft file, such as this..
To fix this issue so you can open CALSoft files, you will need to change your Regional Settings so the
date/time format is in-line with the US Format. To do this..
1. Open the Regional Settings in Windows on your computer by (1) typing “Regional Settings” in
the search box.. .(2) then click “Open”….
2. When the Regional Settings window appears, (1) set the REGIONAL FORMAT to “English (United
States)”. Then (2) you may also want to check the Additional Date, Time, & Regional Settings …
3. If you click Additional Date, Time, & Regional Settings you will be directed to another screen ..
click “Change date, time, or number formats”…
4. The “REGION” tab should be displayed. Confirm that the date and time format is in
“Short date” is in the format of M/D/YYYY
“Long Time” is in the format H:MM:SS TT
If the Windows settings on your computer are set to “English (United States)”, with the date and time
format set to
“Short date” = M/D/YYYY
“Long Time” = H:MM:SS TT
CALSoft should be able to properly open the CALSoft files.
